About

Mona Bone Jakon marks a critical stylistic shift in Cat’s career and was the first of his albums to be released by Island Records. Out went the lush arrangements of his previous two records and in came the stripped-down sound that would become characteristic of his work for much of the 70s. This new style was expertly produced by Paul Samwell-Smith, former bassist of The Yardbirds. Yet another new element was the introduction of Alun Davies on guitar, beginning a lifelong friendship and hugely productive working relationship.
