11 Million Trees
It is with great pride that we announce the first action of Yusuf’s Global Peace Train Project.
On the 11/11/19 at 11am, Peace Train volunteers participated in the planting of 11 million saplings across 2,023 locations in Turkey. The event was part of the “Breath for the Future” campaign, a massive reforestation initiative that will be observed annually and highlights the country’s commitment to a greener future.
Yusuf’s message:
Of all things on this earth, human beings have turned out to be the most destructive. In the scheme of creation we were the last to arrive, yet now we seem to be speeding-up nature’s extinction on a massive scale, due to our own foolishness and greed. Yet, we were supposed to be the custodians and keepers of this beautiful world, not its terminator.
Thankfully, people are doing something positive. I am happy today to be linking up with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture in Turkey and their army of young volunteers; so proud to see the youth looking at the future and taking it into their own hands to plant millions of trees for the replenishing of forests for this planet.
It is also very satisfying to use this as one of the first public participations of our Global Peace Train project, working to make a better more peaceful world for everyone.
The Last Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “If the Hour (the day of Resurrection) is about to be established and one of you was holding a palm shoot, let him take advantage of even one second before the Hour is established to plant it.”
